After this course I'm way more familiar with Illustrator. I learned so much and I had fun with it. The best part was to notice that I can turn my ideas to an illustration with computer. Sometimes it's even easier to work with computer because trying different ideas and undoing is so much easier. I also learned to use wacom which I find very useful. I learned some things in Photoshop also but to me the main point was to learn to use Illustrator.
The exercises done in the classes were very good because with them I learned basics. It was good to have only two major tasks because that way we had enough time to do them. I got a whole bunch of new ideas from other student's works as well as from pro-illustrators websites.
All in all, one of the best courses ever.

Task 2
Task: Create an illustration for C-diverse magazine for a article about copyright laws and internet. Article
is not ready yet, so you get only one of the main aspect from the author. This is: Why should we pay for music in the first place?
If you use Photoshop, you may use only photos (at least 10 different one), drop shadows and draw lines with paths. (I used only different photos.)
Result:
This was so difficult task. That's why I changed my plans and used photoshop and a new idea instead of Illustrator.
After all, here's my piece of illustration for C-diverse mag.
Even Britney is stealing music.

Exercise E
Task: With Photoshop create an illustration of a person by combining at least 5 different photos from internet.
Make two versions of this person:
Result: (I'm not sure if got the idea right, because my pictures aren't that exaggerated - or weird. Maybe she looks a bit too put together - if it wasn't the idea :) But I enjoyed making these!
A sassy babe spending some time with her dog Dixie in the streets of exiciting New York.

This probably isn't the first thing that comes to your mind if you think ordinary or everyday look but in New York it is :)
Enjoying a night out at a trendy lounge bar. Classy!

Exercise A
Task: What is your relationship with drawing, painting and illustrating? Why do you like it, why not? Favorite techniques? What are you good at? Works/artists you admire?
I like to draw. But I don't do it. Same with the painting and illustrating though I'd love to. Somehow I'm always too busy. The other problem is that I have loads of ideas but I can't realize them. Maybe I'm too self-critical...
Last autumn I took part to the intensive course of illustrating and I totally loved it. I made two illustrations that were based on poem of Kirsi Kunnas. My illustrations weren't supposed to be used as an individual elements but as a whole spread illustration in a storybook. This time I'd like to do smaller illustrations that work well with text and layout.
In that course (which lasted a week) we used traditional techniques like water and wood colors and drawing ink. I'm more familiar with traditional techniques than working with computer. I like to make collages and combine different techniques. I try to find new ways of illustrating because I think for example new textures are exciting.
I have used Photoshop but only to finish some pieces of my work. I haven't made any illustrations using only Photoshop. I'm just starting to use Illustrator and it seems a bit hard. I like vector based graphic but I don't know how to use it. That's why I'm eager to learn!
I have many favorite art works. In general I like poster art very much - vintage art especially. Some examples here.
I also like some generous paintings by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.
And so so many more...but the time is up :)
